#అక్కమహాదేవి... 

ఈ పేరు వినగానే శ్రీశైలంలో ఆమె పేరు మీదుగా ఉన్న ఒక గుహ గుర్తుకువస్తుంది. విశాలమైన ఆ గుహలో ఆమె సుదీర్ఘకాలం తపస్సు చేసుకుందని చెబుతారు. కానీ అక్కమహాదేవి కేవలం ఒక భక్తురాలు మాత్రమే కాదు. సమాజాన్ని ధిక్కరించిన ఒక విప్లవకారిణి. భక్తి ఉద్యమానికి కొత్త ఊపు ఇచ్చిన రచయిత్రి. ఆ పరమేశ్వరుని తన భర్తగా భావించిన భక్తురాలు. అక్క అన్న పేరు నిజానికి ఒక బిరుదు మాత్రమే. ఈ భక్తురాలి అసలు పేరు మహాదేవి. శివభక్తులైన ఆమె తల్లిదండ్రులు ఆమెను సాక్షాత్తూ ఆ పార్వతీదేవి అవతారంగా భావించారు. అందుకనే ఆమెకు మహాదేవి అన్న పేరు పెట్టారు. నిజంగానే పార్వతీదేవి పుట్టిందా అన్నట్లు మహాదేవి మొహం తేజస్సుతో వెలిగిపోతూ ఉండేదట. దానికి తోడు నిత్యం శివపంచాక్షరి మంత్రాన్ని జపిస్తూ తనదైన లోకంలో ఉండేదట. మహాదేవి పుట్టిన ఊరు కర్ణాటకలోని ఉడుతడి అనే చిన్న గ్రామం. ఒకసారి ఆ రాజ్యాన్ని ఏలే కౌశికుడు అనే రాజు ఆ గ్రామపర్యటనకు వెళ్లాడు. అక్కడ అందరితో పాటుగా రాజుగారి ఊరేగింపును చూస్తూ నిల్చొన్న మహాదేవిని చూసి రాజు మనసు పారేసుకున్నాడు. వివాహం చేసుకుంటే ఆమెనే చేసుకోవాలని నిశ్చయించుకున్నాడు. కానీ మహాదేవి మనసు అప్పటికే పరమేశ్వరుని మీద లగ్నమైపోయింది. అలాగని రాజుగారి మాట కాదంటే తన కుటుంబానికి కష్టాలు తప్పవు. అందుకని మహాదేవి ఒక మూడు షరతులతో రాజుగారిని వివాహం చేసుకోవడానికి ఒప్పుకున్నదట. ఆ పరమేశ్వరుని తనకు తోచిన రీతిలో, తోచినంతసేపు ధ్యానించుకోవచ్చునన్నది ఆ షరతులలో ఒకటి.

అక్కమహాదేవి షరతులకు లోబడి రాజుగారు ఆమెను వివాహం చేసుకున్నారు. కానీ అనతికాలంలోనే ఆమె షరతులను అతిక్రమించాడు. దాంతో ఆమె కట్టుబట్టలతో రాజమందిరం నుంచి బయటకు వచ్చేశారు. తర్వాత కర్ణాటకలో వీరశైవానికి కేంద్రంగా ఉన్న కళ్యాణ్కు చేరుకున్నారు. అప్పటికే అక్కడ బసవేశ్వరుడు, అల్లమ ప్రభువు వంటి ప్రముఖులు ప్రజలందరినీ భక్తిబాటలో నడిపిస్తున్నారు. అలాంటి పండితులందరూ ప్రవచనాలు చేసేందుకు, తమ వాదనలు వినిపించేందుకు అక్కడ అనుభవ మండపం పేరుతో ఒక వేదిక ఉండేది. మహాదేవి ఆ అనుభవ మండపాన్ని చేరుకుని... శివుని మీద తనకి ఉన్న అభిప్రాయాలు, అనుభూతులను పంచుకున్నారు. మహాదేవి వాదనాపటిమను, పాండిత్యాన్ని చూసి ఆశ్చర్యపోయిన పెద్దలంతా ఆమెకు ‘అక్క’ అన్న బిరుదుని అందించారు. అలా మహాదేవి కాస్తా అక్కమహాదేవిగా మారింది.

అక్కమహాదేవి భక్తిని గమనించిన బసవేశ్వరుడు ఆమెను శ్రీశైలం వెళ్లవలసిందిగా సూచించాడట. దాంతో ఆమె ఎన్నో కష్టానికి ఓర్చి శ్రీశైల మల్లికార్జునుడి సన్నిధికి చేరుకుంది. ఆనాటి శ్రీశైలం అంటే మాటలా! దుర్గమమైన అడవులు, క్రూరమృగాలు, ఎడతెగని కొండలు, దారిదోపిడీగాళ్లతో ఆ ప్రాంతం భయానకంగా ఉండేది. అలాంటి ప్రాంతంలో ఒక వివస్త్రగా ఉన్న సన్యాసిని సంచరించడం అంటే మాటలు కాదు. కానీ ఆమె భక్తి ముందు అలాంటి పరిస్థితులన్నీ తలవంచక తప్పలేదు. ఆలయానికి సమీపంలో ఉన్న ఒక గుహలో, మనిషి కూర్చోవడానికి మాత్రమే వీలుండే ఒక మూలన ఆమె తన తపస్సుని సాగించారు. కొన్నాళ్లకి శ్రీశైలంలోని కదళీవనంలో ఆ మల్లికార్జునిలో అంకితమైపోయారు.

అక్కమహాదేవి మహాభక్తురాలే కాదు... గొప్ప రచయిత్రి కూడా. కన్నడలో ఆమె 400లకు పైగా వచనాలు రాసినట్లు గుర్తించారు. ప్రతి వచనంలోనూ ‘చెన్న మల్లికార్జునా!’ అనే మకుటం కనిపించడం వల్లే అవి అక్కమహాదేవి రాసిన వచనాలుగా భావిస్తున్నారు. ఆమె వచనాలలో శివుని పట్ల ఆరాధన, ఈ ప్రకృతి పట్ల నమ్మకం, ఐహిక సుఖాల పట్ల వైరాగ్యం స్పష్టంగా కనిపిస్తాయి. వీటిలో ఆధ్యాత్మిక రహస్యాలను చెప్పే గూఢార్థాలు కూడా ఉన్నాయని నమ్ముతారు. కన్నడలో ఈమెని తొలి రచయిత్రిగా భావించేవారూ లేకపోలేదు. అక్కమహాదేవి రాసిన వచనాలను తెలుగులోకి కూడా అనువదించారు..

ఆమె 1130-1160 మధ్య జీవించినట్లుగా చరిత్రకారులు నిర్ణయించారు..

చైత్రపూర్ణిమ రోజున ఆమె జయంతిని శ్రీశైల క్షేత్రంలో దేవస్థానం వారు ఘనంగా నిర్వహిస్తారు....!!

🌿 Have you heard about Akkamahadevi! 🌿

Akkamahadevi. When I hear this name, I remember a cave in Srisailam which is above her name. It is said that she had long penance in that vast cave. But Akkamahadevi is not just a devotee. A revolutionary who condemned the society. The writer has given a new shake to the devotional movement. Devotees consider that Parameshwara as their husband. Sister and brother's name is actually just a title. The real name of this devotee is Mahadevi. Her parents who are devotees of Shiva considered her as the incarnation of that Parvati Devi. That is why she was named Mahadevi Anna. Mahadevi's face would have been shining with brightness as if Parvathi Devi was really born. Along with that, he used to be in his own world chanting Siva Panchakshari mantra everyday. The place where Mahadevi was born is a small village called Uduthadi in Karnataka. Once a king named Kaushiku who ruled that kingdom went on a village tour. The king lost his heart by seeing Mahadevi who was standing there watching the Raju garu's parade along with everyone else. He decided to marry himself if he got married. But Mahadevi's heart has already become engaged in Parameshwara. If it is not the words of Raju garu, his family will be inevitable. That's why Mahadevi has agreed to marry a king with three conditions. One of those conditions is that you can meditate on the Lord in the way you want and as long as you want.

Raju garu married her under the conditions of Akkamahadevi. But in eternity he transgressed her conditions. And she came out of the royal temple with her boundaries. Later, they reached Kalyan who is the center of Veerasaivam in Karnataka. Already there famous people like Basaveshwara, Allama Prabhu are leading all the people in the path of devotion. There was a platform called the Hall of Experience for all such scholars to preach and make their arguments heard. Mahadevi reached that experience hall... and shared her views and experiences on Shiva. All the elders who were surprised by Mahadevi's argument and scholarship gave her the title of ' Akka '. Like that Mahadevi has become a little Akkamahadevi.

Basaveshwara who observed the devotion of Akkamahadevi has suggested that she should go to Srisailam. With that, she reached the abode of Srisaila Mallikarjuna after a lot of hardships. That day's Srisailam means words! The area was terrifying with rustic forests, wildlife, unstoppable hills, stray looters. In such an area, it is not words to wander a vast monk. But she didn't have to bow down all such situations before her devotion. In a cave near the temple, she conducted her penance in a corner where man could only sit. After a few years, in the movement in Srisailam, that Mallikarjuni was dedicated.

Akkamahadevi is not only a great devotee... but also a great writer. It is noted that she has written more than 400 verses in Kannada. In every word ' Chenna Mallikarjuna! ' As the makutam appears, they are considered as the verses written by Akkamahadevi. In her verses, worship towards Shiva, faith in this nature, disloyalty towards imaginary pleasures are clearly visible. These are believed to have spies that tell spiritual secrets. There is no one in Kannada to consider her as the first writer. The verses written by Akkamahadevi have been translated into Telugu also.
